Bruce Scher, Patricia A. Kasowski Recognition Award Winner

Bruce Scher accepts the Patricia A. Kasowski Award, highest recognition IACAC awards to a single member each year.

Bruce Scher, Academic Dean at Chicagoland Jewish High School, received the Patricia A. Kasowski Recognition Award at the 2011 Annual Conference.

The IACAC Recognition Award was inaugurated in 1974, to recognize long and meritorious service to our profession, the rendering of service to our association, the demonstration of leadership and finally, service with distinction.  In 1997, IACAC renamed the award in memory of Patricia A. Kasowski.  It is the highest recognition IACAC awards to a single member each year.

In presenting the award, IACAC Past President Marsha Hubbuch (Alumni) opened her remarks by stating “this year’s recipient is a person who exemplifies the very best of our profession.”

Marsha shared that Bruce has had many roles within IACAC.  He has served as President of the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling twice, as a High School Director and as Delegate for the National Association for College Admission Counseling. He has committed many of his efforts to ensuring that all young people, regardless of socio-economic background, are able to receive a college education by spending time on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and Springfield, Illinois lobbying on behalf of young people and their families.

Bruce was joined by many family members who came to Itasca to celebrate Bruce’s award.
