7:00 – 8:00 PM

Topic:
Counseling first generation students on both sides of the desk

Join IACAC as we engage in a live tweet chat on Tuesday, April 15, 7:00-8:00 pm. Sit back, relax, and join the conversation at #IACACchat, or just follow along and see how it works.

We hope you find this event fun and informative. It will be a new way to share ideas, questions and thoughts about college admission. For this tweet chat, our topic will be: How can we better serve first generation students in the college admission process?

If you need some help on how to get started, we’ve included a short primer below.

We hope to see you at #IACACchat!

What is a twitter chat?
“Twitter chats are an engaging and novel way to expand your professional learning network. Like webinars and workshops, Twitter chats are scheduled for a specific date and time, and focus on a certain topic. Using a unique hashtag, users can follow discussions and comments around the designated topic. A moderator often helps lead a discussion and asks questions.” 5 Great Twitter Chats for Educators

How do I participate?

  1. Register for Twitter: If you do not already have a Twitter account, you will need to register for a free account.
  2. After signing up for your account, it is helpful to use a Twitter chat manager for the event. Services like TweetDeck, Tweet Chat or HootSuite help organize tweets and will make it easier to to follow the chat.
  3. Before the chat begins, search for the hashtag #IACACchat. This will bring up all of the tweet that are using this hashtag and are participating in the chat.
  4. To participate in the chat, append the hashtag #IACACchat to any of your tweets that are relevant to the conversation. Using a service like TweetChat makes it easier by automatically adding the hashtag. If you do not include #IACACchat, your tweet will not be included in the chat.
