Purpose

This committee, established in 2010, is very excited to lead this initiative in IACAC and we are looking forward to servicing the membership with news, information and updates about our organization and profession. The Media Communications Committee, in conjunction with the IACAC webmaster and other parties, will be responsible for gathering, composing and delivering electronic news on a quarterly basis. In addition, during the 2010-2011 academic year, this committee will also lead efforts in the redesign and rewriting of the IACAC website.

The goal of the media communication committee is to keep membership fully informed on opportunities within IACAC including, but not limited to, professional development, counseling trends, government legislation and general announcements. As a result, we hope members continue to be actively engaged in the association and utilize appropriate resources to enhance the services they provide to our students.

Frequently Asked Questions

+What happened to the paper news bulletin I used to receive in the mail?
IACAC will not be providing a hard copy of the news bulletin starting in the 2010-2011 academic year. In an effort to be more fiscally and environmentally responsible and to maximize the use of our technological resources, it was decided by the Executive Board to eliminate a print newsletter. However, the new format scheduled to be released on a similar schedule, will allow users a printer-friendly version, suitable for anyone who wishes to view their news in this format.
+What is the deadline to submit an article for the next newsletter?
January 17 – Newsletter 2 (published on January 31)
March 14 – Newsletter 3 (published March 28)
May 16 – Newsletter 4 (published May 23)
+How can I get involved with the committee?
To get involved, please sign up by submitting your name in the Volunteer Form. In addition, feel free to follow up with a brief email to one of the committee chairs. You don’t have to be a “techie” to be on this committee whatsoever, but as long as you can meet the stated deadlines, have a good eye for proofreeding (j/k), and enjoy writing, we would love for you to help advance the group efforts.
+If I’m not on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or other social media, will I miss out on any important news or updates?
This committee will only use facebook and other social media outlets as a supplement to our main source of information already distributed through the quarterly newsletters and the website. So no, if you are not connected to any social media outlets, you will not miss any information that would not be on the website, electronic newsletter or IACAC list serve.
+I have a suggestion for the new website design, who should I contact?
If you have any recommendations or suggestions, please email Kevin Coy, committee co-chair.
